Postponement of Welland Information Day
Further to our previous invitation we must now advise you that the Welland Information Day to be held on 6th November has been postponed.
The principle reason for the change of plan is that the majority of local councilors and officers have declined to participate on the basis of legal, governance or possibly political advice.
As the development of South Worcestershire is a major, current issue it seems perverse that councilors have been dissuaded from gathering and assessing the facts and the views of a large body of interested and informed electors. Nevertheless, the Welland Residents Action Group will be seeking other channels through which to deliver that essential feedback to elected bodies and other decision makers; working with the Parish Council and encouraging residents to participate in the planning consultation process. Meanwhile, the Group is striving to remain detached from the issues of conflict of interest and democratic representation that are a frustrating feature of this particular planning scenario.
